The VW 1303 has its origins in an American law that was ultimately not applied. Among other things, this bill required a minimum distance between the windscreen and the driver’s head, which in the case of the Beetle could only be achieved by a curved windscreen. VW built the vehicle anyway – and marketed it in the USA as the “Super Beetle”.
The VW1303 convertible enjoyed great popularity and was available in numerous colours. The difficult shape of the vehicle is perfectly met, the black paint with tan interior is one of the classic color combinations.
